Tuesday's activities

We did four things today: (1) We took the grandchildren to the dentist; (2) We attended a program at the library, (3) We toured the Philbrook Museum, and (4) We ate at La Hacienda restaurant.

At 8:20 Jennifer was here and we loaded everybody up for the in the Saturn for the half-hour trip to visit a pediatric dentist on Memorial Avenue in Tulsa. It was a nice new building with a large screen TV on the wall. They took both kids back at the same time. After a half hour, they were finished and ready to go. We returned to Sand Springs.

At 12:10 we were at the library. Performing today for "Music sandwiched in" was a three piece mariachi band. The library is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The singers sang Mexican songs, and they were dressed in Mexican outfits.

Following that, we went to the Philbrook Museum where we saw "To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum." Many Egyptians, at least the upper crust of society, were intent on achieving immortality. Thus the elaborate preparation of bodies for burial in preparation for the journey to the Netherworld. The time period of most of the exhibits was from 1500 BCE to around 2 CE. We saw some sarcophagi which had been removed from pyramids, some amulets which were buried with the dead,. some jewelry, etc. Also, while in the museum we saw a sculpture by Rodin and some paintings by Van Gogh, Vermeer, Picasso and others. After we saw the exhibits, we went through the museum gift shop.

Next we ate at La Hacienda on Peoria. It is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. We ate half of what was on our plates and brought the rest home.
